直接引語(yǔ)是祈使句,變?yōu)殚g接引語(yǔ)時(shí),句子的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要選用含有祈使句意義的動(dòng)詞,如tell, ask, order, advise, invite, remind, request, warn 等,引語(yǔ)的動(dòng)詞改成不定式。如果祈使句為否定式,在動(dòng)詞不定式前加not。例如:

"Stop talking," the monitor said to the class. "別說(shuō)話。"班長(zhǎng)對(duì)全班人說(shuō)到。

The monitor told the class to stop talking. 班長(zhǎng)告訴全班人不要說(shuō)話。

"Don't take off your coat," she said to her sister. "別脫掉你的大衣。"她對(duì)她妹妹說(shuō)。

She told her sister not to take off her coat. 她告訴她妹妹不要脫大衣。

"Wear a raincoat, Simon," said Amy. "Simon, 穿一件雨衣,"Amy 說(shuō)。

Amy advised Simon to wear a raincoat. Amy 建議Simon穿一件雨衣。

"Don't open the door before the bus stops," Mr Zhang warned. 張先生警告道:"汽車(chē)停好前別開(kāi)門(mén)。"

Mr Zhang warned us not to open the door before the bus stopped. 張先生警告我們汽車(chē)停好前別開(kāi)門(mén)。

當(dāng)直接引語(yǔ)是祈使句時(shí),變成間接引語(yǔ)的"順口溜"是:去掉引號(hào)要加to; ask, order須記住,直引若是否定式,not 加在 to前部。
